Climate and Energy
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) attended and presented at "Innovate4Climate" (I4C), held in Singapore from 4-7 June 2019. I4C is an international convention and exhibition organized by the World Bank, where more than 1,000 governmental agencies, industries, NGOs, and research institutions from all over the world gathered and discussed measures for addressing climate change. This event’s main themes were climate finance, climate investment, and market mechanisms.
IGES, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), the Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center (OECC) and the Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC), organised a booth to showcase good practices and successful cases of implementing the JCM. Visitors also discussed tips and hints on how to facilitate JCM projects in their own city and country contexts. In addition, IGES presented at workshops and side events, including "Collaboration on Piloting Article 6 through the JCM and the Programs of the World Bank Group" (Date: 6 June, 9:30am-10:30am) which was organised by the MOEJ and the World Bank. More than 200 people visited the booth, and the workshop was fully attended, with some people standing at the back. The discussions included an overview of the JCM, recent progress, and ways for further implementation in the future. The attendees showed strong interest in the JCM, and the event was a great success.
