Countries in the Asia-Pacific region have made tremendous progress over recent decades in growing their economies, but at serious costs to biodiversity and ecosystem services. The region has entered a development context that is increasingly influenced by resource constraints and growing risks. Through solution-oriented multidisciplinary research, the Natural Resources and Ecosystem Services team aims to guide policies and practices that support human development through the integrated management of natural resources. NRE research is framed by an understanding that sustainable and equitable management of natural resources requires robust governance structures, enhanced accountability and coordinated sustainability approaches across all policy levels.
